Zach Pope Reviews Let Him Go

In Let Him Go (2020), retired sheriff George and his wife Margaret are in search to find their grandson after dealing with the loss of their own son. Based on a novel of the same name by author Larry Watson, the film was directed by Thomas Bezucha and stars Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Lesley Manville and Jeffrey Donovan. YouTuber Zach Pope shares his thoughts on the film now playing in select theaters.

From the beginning scene to the last one, again I was just super into it. There are some very tense moments that keep you on edge … when it hits those moments, it hits them in strides and at perfect moments it gets you on board and you’re like oh god what is about to happen.

Probably one of the most surprising films he’s seen all year, says the YouTuber. He notes the performances by both Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as a couple dealing with the tragedy of their son and the desperation to find their missing grandson, are brilliantly played. They have such great chemistry and you really believe they are a family going through a roller-coaster of emotions, according to Pope.

Just as the main protagonists are so well written and developed, the YouTuber wishes the antagonist fell in the same momentum of having a well-rounded backstory and character motivation.

Overall, the film is well written and directed, says the YouTuber who gives Let Him Go a B+ rating.
