The Ruby Tuesday Reviews Locked Down

Finally, a movie depicting life during the world-wide pandemic? In Locked Down (2021), a couple's plan to finally part ways is halted by a mandatory lockdown bringing sight to challenges and an unusual way of bringing them closer together. Directed by Doug Liman, the film stars Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor and an all star cast of cameos. YouTuber Ruben from his channel The Ruby Tuesday, shares his thoughts on the film now available on HBO Max.

This is two films. One is about the lockdown and the other is a fun heist. And if you’ve seen the trailer, you’ll know kind of where it goes, but it also doesn’t quite go where you expect it to go. There’s like a couple of surprises which I really liked. I actually really liked this film.

Surprised by how much he enjoys the film, Ruben claims it feels like two different movies mashed into one. With the first half being a deeply emotional film full of engaging monologues and the later half a fun heist thriller with the unexpected turn of events.

Another element the YouTuber is surprised by is how well the film is able to depict the effects of the current global situation. The performances from the actors paint a very believable and real picture of what is going on in the world during the pandemic and how real-life people are coping with it mentally and physically. This film will definitely hit close to home for many people, according to Ruben.
