Seven years after the release of The Croods (2013), in The Croods 2: A New Age (2020), the prehistoric bunch discover life beyond their wildest dreams, meet a new family, and learn to embrace this new chapter in their lives. Directed by Joel Crawford, the film stars Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Nicolas Cage, Catherine Kreener Clark Duke, Leslie Mann, Peter Dinklage, Kelly Marie Tran and Cloris Leachman. YouTubers Wendy and Dustin from the channel The Movie Couple, share their thoughts on the animated sequel.
I liked how they really navigated this movie. How they navigated this storyline and the plotline and it really is a basic story of the family growing and separating, but yet how that can actually make them grow stronger. How when they’re faced with some different ideas on how to live life, there’s that struggle and that butting of heads … I thought it was really cute.
Both YouTubers enjoy the film and feel it still holds up years after the first film released back in 2013. They both notice the same vibe of colorfulness and wacky frantic fast-paced adventure theme is still present in the sequel. There is a good balance between kid jokes and adult jokes, says the YouTubers, who think the film will be enjoyable to all ages: “There’s definitely a lot to keep you and everybody in your family really really entertained.”
The characters are still fun, especially with the introduction of the new family in which Wendy and Dustin agree the voice acting is spot on to each unique character.
