Disney+ recently released the first three episodes of the MCU TV series WandaVision (2020), in which MCU superheroes Wanda Maximoff and Vision begin to suspect their idealized lives are not what they seem. Created by Jac Schaeffer, the series stars Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Evan Peters, Kat Dennings, Kathryn Hahn, Teyonah Parris and Randall Park. YouTuber Sharronda Williams from the channel Pay Or Wait, shares her thoughts on the first few episodes of the series.
I really want to give props to Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, they are absolutely fantastic in the series and I think it’s really interesting to be able to see Wanda and Vision not as these tortured souls that we’ve seen in the previous films … to see them be able to portray all of these different characters because they are referencing a lot of the nostalgic classic television sitcoms throughout the course of this series, and when I say Elizabeth and Paul they absolutely nail it, they truly do.
Surprised by how much she is enjoying the series so far, Williams feels the chemistry between Olsen and Bettany translates so much into their characters and really highlights the wide range they are able to convey on screen. The series plays homage to classic TV sitcoms and does it beautifully, says Williams who has a great sense of nostalgia for the classic references.
The YouTuber does note that although the superheroes do use their powers in unique ways in the show, it is not your typical MCU action series; it is a sitcom comedy. Definitely worth the wait and worth the watch says Williams.
