Movie Files Reviews The Nest

Making its world debut at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in January, The Nest (2020) follows the life of a family who moves to England from America, causing an interesting turn of events. Directed by Sean Durkin, the film stars Jude Law, Carrie Coon, Charlie Shotwell, Oona Roche and Michael Culkin. YouTuber Elliot from his channel Movie Files, shares his thoughts on the family drama that is now available in select theaters.

The MVP of this movie … Carrie Coon … I think Carrie Coon is one of the best actors working today hands down and she is just phenomenal in this movie as Allison … she has her own in New York, but when her husband takes the family to London, the family dynamics switches so dramatically she doesn’t know who she is anymore, she doesn’t have the same aspirations and goals as she once had.

Carrie Coon’s performance is excellent, says Elliot, who feels the actress gives so much into the role of a once confident woman, turned confused and unsure of her place in the family and the new environment.

However, the YouTuber does wish the script gives more character arc to Jude Law’s character Rory and to their children as well, who seem to have very stereotypical and one-dimensional traits.

Overall, the performances are great, the direction is great and the visuals captured look very beautiful, according to Elliot.
