Fatale is a modern-day Fatal Attraction says YouTubers

In the thriller Fatale (2020), Derrick finds himself in a desperate situation fighting for his life after a one-night-stand with a mysterious woman who turns out to be a police detective with dark motives and intentions. Directed by Deon Taylor, the film stars Michael Ealy, Hilary Swank, Tyrin Turner, Damaris Lewis and Mike Colter. YouTubers Korey Coleman and Martin Thomas from the channel Double Toasted, share their thoughts on the 80’s-like thriller movie.

This movie keeps twisting every 15 minutes … damn Derrick how did you fuck up this bad by doing nothing … at that point it can get silly man.

The YouTubers feel the movie does get a bit over the top at some points after the many plot twists, but also agree that it is a film that many people can enjoy if they are fans of 80’s thriller movies. They even go as far as describing it as a “black Fatal Attraction” due to the predominantly black cast. However, the YouTuber does make it clear he does not think it is necessarily considered to be a black film, but it does a great job in highlighting black characters and black culture while at the same time catering to a general audience.

There are times in the film that Coleman finds the film to be “a bit sloppy” but does take into consideration the film’s limited budget constraints and praises the film technically for usage of the scene settings and film lighting to really convey the story.
