In the mystery/thriller film Run (2020), Chloe Sherman begins to notice things are not what they appear to be when it comes to her mother. Written and directed by Aneesh Chaganty, the film stars Sarah Paulson as Diane, a single mother to a 17-year-old daughter Chloe, played by Kiera Allen. YouTuber Chris Stuckmann shares his thoughts on the film now streaming on Hulu.
This film is skillfully made and extremely well-acted from top to bottom. And the simplicity only helps boost the suspense. There are sequences throughout the movie that I just was really on the edge and it was mostly just because you’re constantly in a state of panic wondering if this girl can pull something off.
Very well edited and very well shot, says Stuckmann who also describes the film as similar to a Hitchcock movie. The YouTuber praises the performances by both actresses, especially Kiera Allen, whom he feels is able to really convey the hardships her character faces. He also notes Sarah Paulson’s knack for playing an “evil” character and making it so believable.
The movie is simple and yet very entertaining, says Stuckmann. One of his favorite thrillers he’s seen so far, rating it an A-.
