The Warners are back! In the newly rebooted Animaniacs (2020), the animated series follows the antics and adventures of Yakko, Wakko and Dot after being away from television for the past 22 years. Based on the original animated series by Tom Ruegger, voice actors Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille, Maurice La Marche, and Frank Welker all return for the 13-episode series. YouTuber Andre from this channel Black Nerd Comedy, shares his thoughts on the latest reboot now streaming on Hulu.
This show shines with its meta humor. They don’t just break the fourth wall in this series, they shatter it. They know they’re in a reboot and they make jokes about it constantly; they also make jokes about selling out to Hulu.
With the new reboot, you’re still getting the wacky gags, satirical content, snappy dialogue, and musical numbers that create a great balance with the new and nostalgic, according to Andre. Overall, the series has a very similar feel and vibe to the original in terms of the content humor and character feel. It of course has just been updated with current pop culture references, says the YouTuber.
YouTuber Andre is especially excited to see the same familiar voices in the characters and claims they feel just as bit the same as in the original series despite the 22-year gap.
A great show that will bring you all the nostalgic feels if you were a fan of the original animated series, according to Andre.
