Big Gold Belt Media Reviews Jiu Jitsu

Based on the 2017 comic book series of the same name, In Jiu Jitsu (2020), an ancient group of Jiu Jitsu fighters join together to fight off an alien invasion. Written and directed by Dimitri Logothetis, the film stars Nicolas Cage, Tony Jaa, JuJu Chan, Frank Grillo and Alain Moussi. YouTuber Big Gold Belt Media shares his thoughts on the action-packed martial arts film.

This is an adult level Power Rangers film. All of us grew up liking Power Rangers … obviously because of the tone, because of just the action, the production, all that other good stuff, but it’s simple; it’s a group of people, who come together, who kick butt using martial arts to fight aliens.

It's nothing but straight action and “some badass martial artists”, describes the YouTuber, who enjoys the very simple storyline that is enhanced by the Power Ranger-like nostalgic feel. He also notes some of the action scenes and CGI visual look “a little wonky”, but says it goes with the experience of watching the film as a comic book series.

As a fan of action films, the YouTuber enjoys the amazing hand to hand combat scenes crediting the well shot cinematography in capturing the intricacies and details of the martial arts sport. The intensity of the action scenes is also elevated by the fantastic sound mixing, according to the YouTuber.

Not the best acting or dialogue, but definitely an entertaining action filled movie from beginning to end.
