A Sharkoy and Lavagirl part 2?! In the Netflix film We Can Be Heroes (2020), a group of kids with super power abilities team up to save their superhero parents and the world from alien invaders. Written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, who also created the Spy Kids (2001) franchise, the film stars Taylor Dooley, Pedro Pascal, Priyanka Chopra, Boyd Holbrook, Haley Reinhart, Sung Kang, Christian Slater and Christopher McDonald, just to name a few. YouTuber Chris from the channel 3C Films, shares his thoughts on the kid adventure film.
These really are kids movies like no other. The over bloated, weird, unique CGI, the extremely cheesy corny dialogue, but the fully self-aware and charming nature of it with these great kid actors sells the movie for me.
Definitely a movie with a very specific demographic, says Chris who notes that if you are not a fan of other Robert Rodriguez kid action/adventure films, this will probably not be your cup of tea. Despite all of that, the YouTuber is impressed with the actual story of the characters who are very likable and actually utilize their superpowers well.
The YouTuber is also surprised by not one but two ending plot twists comparing it to an “M. Night Shyamalan kids edition” type of move in which the audiences never see coming.
